Spring is in the air! Now that we can finally begin to bid farewell to the dreariness of winter, the county of Cheshire begins to bloom into a hive of outdoor activity. Thoroughly enjoy your stay with us this season whilst sampling some of the delights surrounding The Pheasant Inn.

Celebrate ‘National Get Walking Week’ at the beginning of May with one of the many stunning walks in the area. We’re lucky enough to be situated midway along the renowned 34 mile Sandstone Trail, making us the perfect base for a leisurely countryside stroll.

Take a look at our ‘Three Walks from the Pheasant’ leaflet for ideas on local walks of various distances, including those which take in picturesque pit-stops such as Beeston Castle. Dating back to the 13th century, the ‘Castle on the Rock’ is famed for its breath-taking views across Cheshire and is one of the best loved tourist attractions in the county. The area surrounding Beeston Castle is also renowned for its wildlife sightings; including rare species of bird such as the Peregrine Falcon – the fastest animal on the planet!

With the weather beginning to warm up, Cheshire Farm Ice Cream is the perfect sanctuary for those with a sweet tooth. Sample over 40 (yes, 40) different flavours of ice-cream and sorbet, including Honeycomb, Pistachio and Liquorice with Blackcurrant. In fact, we love them so much; that we stock a selection of them here at The Pheasant Inn!

Also, just a stone’s throw away is Cheshire Workshops, a family-run business with fifty years’ experience in candle making. Try your hand at creating your own hand-carved wax masterpiece, along with alternative arts and crafts and an outdoor children’s playground for those sunny days.

For those with a need for speed, one of the most popular and picturesque racetracks in the country, Oulton Park, is just 20 minutes’ drive from The Pheasant Inn. With an annual calendar, including regular race meetings and headline events such as the British Superbike Championship from 2nd-4th May, it’s any high octane petrol lover’s dream!

Or if off-road is more your thing, put your driving capabilities to the test at the Landrover Experience in neighbouring Tarporley. Whether for serious learning, or just for fun, this confidence boosting day allows you to experience the beautiful Cheshire terrain along with a pair of white-knuckles!

If you’re an animal lover, take a walk on the wild side at the No.1 zoo in the UK, Chester Zoo which is just 30 minutes’ drive away. With over 400 different species of animal and attractions such as Europe’s biggest Orangutan enclosure and an exhilarating journey through the Fruit Bat Forest with free-flying bats around you. It’s both an educational and fun day out for families, couples and groups alike!

If creatures of the deep capture your interest, then you can choose to enter an underwater realm at The Blue Planet Aquarium, which holds one of the largest shark collections in Europe. This popular attraction is just a half hours’ drive away and is situated on the border of Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. Named the largest outlet in the UK, Cheshire Oaks houses 145 stores including designer brands such as Michael Kors, Mulberry and Ralph Lauren, amongst a variety of other shops and restaurants.
